To accept as true or real.
To credit with veracity.
v. intr.
To have firm faith, especially religious faith.
To have faith, confidence, or trust.
To have confidence in the truth or value of something.
I believe in many things, as many people do. But no matter what I believe in this or that or to what degree I believe in this, that, or tha other, ... at the root of it all is this belief.
The belief that I'm the child of a living Savior who came to take away my sins and has promised to come again to take me to a Heavenly Paradise, is one (01) that overshadows anything and everything in my life.
There are numerous aspects that make up who I am. And I've grown a great deal rather quickly. I'm opinionated and sometimes just plain stubborn. People know me to be quite and resevered but also someone who readily speaks his mind. But no matter who I act or what your views on me are. No matter what I choose to show you about me this will forever remain.
Now I'm not one (01) to judge (although sometimes I do) and I'm not one (01) to be mindfully critial of others (although sometimes I am), but this is a truth that you can count on. And yes, I stumble and sin and fail at being true to the One who saved me from the wages of sin, but always do I love Him and always do I come to him longing to be forgiven and made new each day.
There is no better way to describe what I believe then in the timeless Apostle's Creed. I have posted it here and tried to add somewhat of an explantion along with some of the lines. Now I'm no biblical scholar and sometimes I do not open my bible for days at a time. But I do love the word and the One who inspired it. And here within and without the lines of the Apostle's Creed, I'll share with you what I believe:
The Apostle's Creed
I believe in GOD
the Father Almighty
Maker of Heaven and Earth.
And in JESUS CHRIST
His only Son our LORD,
Who was conceived by the Holy Spirit,
Born of the Virgin Mary,
Suffered under Pontius Pilate,
Was crucified, dead and buried.
He descended into hell.
The third day he rose again from the dead
He ascended into heaven,
And sits on the right hand of GOD the Father Almighty;
From thence he shall come to judge the living and the dead.
I believe in
The Holy Spirit;
The Holy Catholic Church;
The Communion of Saints;
The forgiveness of sins;
The resurrection of the body;
And the life everlasting.
Amen.
May we all just get down to what it really is we believe. May we all have the simplest of relationships with the simplest (and at the same time complex) of people. I wish it seemed so simple to come to Him and stay. But often we find it difficult to approach Him and pretty much impossible to stay. May we remember who He is, what He did, and why He did it. ... May we always remember He is simple and easy to know. And may we know Him, for He knows us.
