Listening - "LOVE LIKE CRAZY"-CHRIS rice
Amusing

"He replied, 'If you have faith as small as a mustard seed, you can say to this mulberry tree, 'Be uprooted and planted in the sea,' and it will obey you.'"

-- LUKE 17 : 06

So day one (01) without my baby hasn't been too bad. I've spent days without leaving the house and driving somewhere so the fact I don't have mobility is in the very back of my mind. Of course if I look out the window or reach for my keys I'm going to discover that my baby isn't parked outside and that I'll never find her key. Once Monday rolls around I'll really "feel the pain" as they say. My usual routine of waking up at 4:00 and heading to Fort Riley between 4:30 and 5:00 is going to be upset to say the very least. I'll have to get a ride from TOMMY, my housemate, in the morning. And then of course I'll have my uniform to carry with me as well as my laptop bag. Just peachy.

Hopefully I won't have to pay the USD$1,300 and have to wait two (02) weeks for the repairs to be made. The best case scenario of course would be to have the repairs covered by the warranty and be able to pick her back up by say Tuesday or Wednesday. Tuesday. But paying the full amount for the repairs and waiting for weeks isn't going to cut it. Nope. I need her back next week.

And of course, since I put off shopping for groceries all week, my meal options are rather limited here at the house. I suppose without my own transportation this weekend or all of the groceries on my list, I'll have to put off starting P90X for another couple of weeks. Bummer. But not completely, after barely making it through my little trial of the ab ripper X workout, I could stand to wait until I have everything I'll need to begin the program and follow through, and the nutritional program is the most important part of it all. A half hour to an hour workout each day is nothing compared to a change of eating habits. Later I'll be doing P90X's X stretch program. I'm sure it'll still be an intense program, but I figure if I do the X stretch for a week or so it'll help me prepare for beginning the program when the time comes. And of course I'll continue to do regular PT with the unit five (05) days a week.

It'll be a fun and interesting week I'm sure. I still have to figure out the details regarding my shop's equipment getting to White Sands, New Mexico at the end of the month as well. I suppose I'll be heading there with a couple members of the civilian team if my unit gives the trip their seal of approval. I believe the schedule had the 23rd on it as the departure date, but I'm not totally sure. The Soldiers are finishing the paperwork Monday so it should all be good to go by Monday afternoon with the equipment together and ready for packing as well. Hopefully it'll all go smoothly. But getting my baby back now is definitely a top priority. The guy at Honda didn't tell me how long it might take for repairs to be completed. I have a week in my mind and that just seems like an incredibly long while to wait considering how much I'm always driving. Maybe I'll get lucky though. I surely hope so.

Peace be with you always. And may GOD continue to bless you.

Listening - "I AM"-NICHOLE nordeman
Woven And Spun

"GOD called the light 'day', and the darkness He called 'night'. And there was evening, and there was morning--the first day."

-- Genesis 01 : 05

So far my staff duty shift hasn't been bad at all. While the phone has rung an unusual amount of times for an incident-free shift, nobody on the other end has communicated any problems of happenings which would spell the end of civilization as we know it. A good thing. And in the wake of the New York Giants defeating the "perfect" New England Patriots, life is surely good. Normally I wouldn't be rooting for the New York Giants; being a Philadelphia Eagles fan by definition makes me a non-fan of the three (03) other teams in their conference: Dallas, New York, and Washington. However, since the entire season comes down to the Superbowl and these were the last two (02) teams I had to choose to root for one (01) or the other. And like many football fans I was hoping the Patriots would lose and their "perfect" season would come to a close. And well, it did. Even though I wasn't at a television to watch; MOM and KALEN both reported the good news. So although they had a perfect regular season, the Patriots ultimately didn't get it done after all. A fitting end I think.

I'm still awake. I'd sent my runner away at a little after 5:00 yesterday evening. He's a Patriots fan so I let him escape duty for a few hours to cheer his team on. I heaed to Subway shortly before he left and returned with three (03) footlong Italian BMT sandwiches on honey oat bread. The plan was to buy two (02) footlongs and eat one (01) as soon as I returned to the staff duty desk and save the other for later in the shift. The girl behind the counter, however, asked if I wanted a third footlong sandwich for free so I shrugged my shoulders and said why not. So away I went with three (03) sandwiches and two (02) packets of apple slices. I was about to find my runner's cell phone number when he walked in a little after 10:00. I guess he was a bit shocked by his team's loss and couldn't move for the additional hour or so he stayed away. It was perfect timing though as I was just beginning to think he may have mistaken my letting him go for the duration of the game as my letting him go fro the rest of the shift. He's out now. He has been for about an hour. I haven't nodded off yet. I was reading earlier and just before I started this I was making a grocery list.

I bought Beachbody's "P90X Extreme Home Fitness" system as a Christmas gift to myself back in December. I'm planning to begin the workout program this month. And of course, to complement the rigorous workouts is a nutrition plan. I went through and listed all the ingredients in the meal plan section so that I'll be able to cook and bake some of the meals included in that section. And of course I listed a lot of the foods provided as suggestions in the portion section of the book. THe meal plan approach makes up a seven (07) day meal plan from breakfast to dinner while the portion section lists foods which should be eaten and in what portions sizes. So I'll create some of my own meals from that list as well. It'll be tough at first but I think if I have the ingredients I'll be able to stick with it. My plan is to really deal with the cooking for dinner meals. Breakfasts I will be able to prepare ahead of time (i.e. muffins, pancakes) and carry with me in the morning. I'll still be doing regular morning PT as part of the unit. Hopefully it won't through this program off much. I'll have to bag my breakfast whether it be muffins, fruit, yogurt or a combination of those things or more. It'll be eaten after PT. Of course I could see if the dining facility would be able to accomodate that meal. I'm pretty sure I'd be able to make a healthy meal from foods there. If anything though I'll still pack fruits and nuts and yogurt as a morning snack. Lunch will be a bit tricky. I imagine that somedays I'll pack it and somedays I'll just try to make healthy choices at restaurants. But as my lunch buddy JOSH will be going to BNCOC soon, I may begin the habit of preparing something for lunch and brining it with me in the mornings. So we'll see.

Instituting good eating habits will be more challenging than sticking to the actual workouts I believe. Since I do reagular, unit PT in the mornings I'll only have to stick to doing the P90X routines in the evenings. I think I previewed most of them before I went on leave in December. I think I can keep up and push myself through them. I'll be taking before and after photos so hopefully Ill have something to show as I make it through the ninety (90) day program. I'm going to skip the "fit test" used to determine if you're ready for the program. I'm in better than average shape. I'm ready. But I will take the photos and do the initial tests and measurements which I will then take again half-way through and after ninety (90) days.

In the vein of workout talk, I'll be wearing my weight vest again tomorrow morning. I was pleased to make the company run on Friday with the extra twenty-five (25) pounds. Later today I'll wear it a while and see if I'm able to do push-ups and other exercises in it comfortably. If I'm able to do them just fine then I may just wear the weight vest on non-run days as well. I need to put the full forty (40) pounds worth of weights in it and give the steep hill at the end of the road the house I live on a go. Getting up that thing would be a challenge when it's the third or fourth time. All in due time I suppose. I'm anxious to get my run time down. My last PT test wasn't horrible, but it wasn't following the trend of those I took in the desert. I added a good three (03) minutes to my time due to it being cold and my own complecency. Unacceptable. My push-ups and sit-ups weren't up to par either, but my run was just really bad. I need to get down to a solid sub-14:00.00 two-mile run time. That will be a good starting point before really pouring it on so I can get in the 12:30.00 neighborhood.

Above all, I'm just hoping to renew a committment to get in the shape most of the unit thinks I'm in given my build. And I'm not in horrible shape, I'm just not where I know I should be. So it's high time I do what I need to do to get there. But yeah, the eating will be tough as it's just convienient sometimes to grab some fast food. But I'm a Subway fan so if I can stick to stopping in there as opposed to the Burger Kings and pizza places, I won't get too far off track.

Peace be with you always. And may GOD continue to bless you.

Listening - "FOLLOW THE SON"-Hillsong London
Jesus Is ... Remix

"Do not be overawed when a man grows rich, when the splendor of his house increases; ... for he will take nothing with him when he dies, his splendor will not descend with him."

-- Psalm 49 : 16 & 17

It's a duty day. I didn't sleep as much as I probably should have considering I have to be up, in my uniform, on post, and at a staff duty desk come 9:00. I'll be tired by the afternoon, I just know it. Fortunately, there's really nothing to staff duty. It basically consists of sitting at a desk and answering the phone, signing Soldiers in and out on leave, and just taking care of any situation which arises. The staff duty NCO is on call for the 24-hour shift to act in the absense of the commander That just means it's secretarial work really. It makes sense though during the weekends as it represents a central location you're able to go to or phone to reach the unit's leadership in case of an incident or emergency.

On weekdays the shifts are 24-hours as well. This isn't something I understand as there are people here all day on weekdays. When I was in Korea the weekday shifts were twelve (12) hours and the weekend shifts was twenty-four (24) hours. That was much more practical.

I'm going to get a couple more hours of sleep before I have to start my morning routine. I get the next day off though. When my shift ends at 9:00 Monday morning I'll be able to drive to the house, shower, and get some shut-eye. That'll be nice. However I need to get up in the afternoon to pack boxes for AGGIE and SAMANTHA. I need to get their care packages desert bound as soon as possible.

Back to sleep with me.

Peace be with you always. And may GOD continue to bless you.

"Do not forget to entertain strangers, for by so doing some people have entertained angels without knowing it."

-- Hebrews 13 : 02

"Undo Me"

JENNIFER knapp
Papa, I think I messed up again
Was it something I did
Was it something I said
I don't mean to do you wrong
It's just the way of human nature

Sister, I know I let you down
I can tell by the fact
You never come around
You don't have to say a thing
I can tell by your eyes
Exactly what you mean

That it's time
To get down on my knees and pray
"LORD, undo me!"
Put away my flesh and bone
'Til You own this spirit through me,
LORD, undo me.

Mama, I know I made you cry
But I never meant to hurt you
I never meant to lie
While the world shook its head in shame
I let you take the blame

Brother, I know you labored
So hard to please
But I cut you down
And I left you on your knees
Well I know it must be

Time to get down on my knees and pray
"LORD, undo me!"
Put away my flesh and bone
'Til You own this spirit through me LORD

I am wanting, needing, guilty and greedy
Unrighteous, unholy; undo me. Undo me

Abba Father You must wonder why
More times than Peter I have denied
Three nails and a cross to prove
I owe my life eternally to you

And it's time
To get down on my knees and pray
"LORD, undo me!"
Put away my flesh and bone
'Til You own this spirit through me
LORD, undo me
Peace be with you always. And may GOD continue to bless you.

And I'm not about to guess either (=- Birthdays are made to eat and be happy, so eat something good, have seconds, and eat something sweet for dessert. Don't work to hard today. Relax in a bubble bath or something. You're the best, MOM. Have a super birthday! *squeeze* Love ya bunches!"
